Jobless and Burnt Out
This article examines how inequalities in digital skills shape the outcomes of online job‐seeking processes. Building on a representative survey of Spanish job seekers, we show that people with high digital skill levels have a greater probability of securing a job online, because of their ability to create a coherent profile and make their application visible. Additionally, it is less probable that they will experience burnout during this process…
The effect of “Housing First” on mobile and digital media usage by people experiencing homelessness
In 2014, a non-governmental organization called HOGAR SÍ initiated the Hábitat program as a pioneer attempt to implement the Housing First model in Spain. The present study is part of the evaluation of this program, which was carried out from May 2015 to February 2020 using a form of a randomized controlled trial. The treatment group was compared with a control group (people experiencing homelessness but not selected as Hábitat users), keeping tr…
Cost‐effectiveness of a ‘Housing First’ programme implemented in Spain
In the last decades, Housing First model has become a feasible alternative to the traditional “staircase” systems in caring for the most vulnerable homeless people. The analysis that we present in this work is referred to Hábitat , a pioneering HF programme in Spain, which has been evaluated attending to both costs and outcomes. A randomised controlled trial was carried out and the collected data was explored through a Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis…

This study analyses predictors of students’ coping responses to academic sexism. 954 high school students ( M Age = 17; SD Age = 0.90, 57% girls) participated. Boys were therefore more likely to use avoidance responses, whereas girls confronting and help-seeking responses. Likewise, hierarchical regressions suggest that girls and boys and girls whose parents had a high educational level and were without sexist attitudes about women’s higher level…
Gendered management in Spanish universities
The reorganisation of higher education according to the marketplace logic – and framed within the process of Europeanisation and globalisation – has run parallel to a significant rise in the number of women in senior management positions at Spanish universities. This would seem to be a step to more gender equality. However, the analysis of the situation used thus far, based on conventional indicators, may be harbouring a not-so-egalitarian realit…
Digital skills gaps
This article thoroughly analyses the Eurostat database on Digital Economy and Society to explore the evolution of the digital skills gaps by gender in the European Union between years 2007 and 2014. It finds that there are slight differences between women and men in the most basic and widespread skills, but they are very significant in the more complex and less generalized tasks. The disparities in this regard have generally decreased but very fe…
