  • Does cosmological expansion affect local physics

Domenico Giulini•ARTICLE•Studies in History and Philosophy…•2014

  • Decoherence and the Appearance of a Classical World in Quantum Theory

Claus Kiefer, Domenico Giulini et al.•BOOK•Decoherence and the Appearance of…•2013

Decoherence, a concept known only to few physicists when the first edition appeared in 1996, has since become firmly established experimentally and understood theoretically, as well as widely reported in the literature. The major consequences of decoherence are the emergence of "classicality" in general, superselection rules, the border line between microscopic and macroscopic behavior in molecules and field theory, the emergence of classical spa…

  • Electron spin or “classically non-describable two-valuedness”

    Open Access•Domenico Giulini•ARTICLE•Studies in History and Philosophy…•2008

  • What is (not) wrong with scalar gravity

    Open Access•Domenico Giulini•ARTICLE•Studies in History and Philosophy…•2008

  • Einstein's impact on the physics of the twentieth century

Open Access•Domenico Giulini, Norbert Straumann•ARTICLE•Studies in History and Philosophy…•2006

  • Uniqueness of Simultaneity

    Domenico Giulini•ARTICLE•The British Journal for the…•2001•Cited by: 2•References: 4

We consider the problem of uniqueness of certain simultaneity structures in flat spacetime. Absolute simultaneity is specifiled to be a non‐trivial equivalence relation which is invariant under the automorphism group Aut of spacetime. Aut is taken to be the identity‐component of either the inhomogeneous Galilei group or the inhomogeneous Lorentz group. Uniqueness of standard simultaneity in the first, and absence of any absolute simultaneity in t…

  • Hunting the White Elephant

    Open Access•Joachim Renn, Jürgen Renn et al.•ARTICLE•Science in Context•2001•Cited by: 3•References: 1

we present a number of findings concerning galileo's major discoveries which question both the methods and the results of dating his achievements by common historiographic criteria. the dating of galileo's discoveries is, however, not our primary concern. this paper is intended to contribute to a critical reexamination of the notion of discovery from the point of view of historical epistemology. we claim that the puzzling course of galileo's disc…

  • Decoherence

Open Access•Philippe Blanchard, Erich Joos et al.•EDITOR•BOOK•Decoherence•2000

In this book the process of decoherence is reviewed from both the theoretical and the experimental physicist's point of view. Implications of this important concept for fundamental problems of quantum theory and for chemistry and biology are also given. This broad review of decoherence addresses researchers and graduate students. It could also be used in seminar work
