Validity and reliability of the generalized pliance and tracking 2-way scale
This study developed and examined the validity and reliability of a scale that simultaneously measures generalized pliance and tracking with more focus on actions in daily situations. The so-called Generalized Pliance and Tracking 2-way Scale: GPT-2s comprises 16 items (8 items each for generalized pliance and tracking). In Study 1, an online survey was conducted among 1500 Japanese individuals (420 men, 1054 women, 26 others [mean age = 29.47 ye…

Cuing Effects by Biologically and Behaviorally Relevant Symbolic Cues
This study investigates whether symbolic cues that are relevant biologically (e.g., eye gaze) and behaviorally (e.g., arrows) have analogous characteristics and function similarly in terms of attentional resource consumption. Both cues induce attentional orienting when they do not indicate a target location, but it remains unclear whether cuing effects by those cues have similar characteristics. We recently found that cuing effects by non‐predict…

Scene‐context effect in visual memory is independent of retention interval 1
The context of a natural scene can facilitate memory for embedded objects. It has been reported that such scene‐context effects can be lost in the flicker paradigm, which alternatively presents a picture, followed by a modified version of the picture after a brief interval. Using a follow‐the‐dot paradigm which instills serial attending, determinants of the scene‐context effect are examined by varying both scene‐context (normal, jumbled) and the …
