    Hsiu‐Lan Cheng, Helen Youngju Kim et al.•ARTICLE•American Psychologist•2021•Cited by: 32•References: 24

Anti-Asian racism has spiked since the outbreak of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, creating compounded threats to Asian Americans' psychological wellbeing on top of other pandemic stressors (e.g., fears of infection, financial insecurity, or quarantine isolation). COVID-19 anti-Asian racism signifies the relevance of race and racism during public health crises and highlights the importance of examining the psychological impacts of racia…

  • Ethical and Methodological Issues Resulting from Recording Lapses in Qualitative Research

    Open Access•Jason D Reynolds, Jason Reynolds et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2018•References: 2

Technological difficulties, such as recording lapses and dropped calls, during interviews for qualitative research lead to important ethical and methodological considerations. Using case examples from our own experiences with recording lapses, we walk through some of the questions to consider, including relational ethics and how changes in the data affect the validity of our findings. We argue that how ethical and methodological issues raised by …

The present article highlights the value of psychobiography to psychology, reviews the history and current status of psychobiography in the field, examines the relevan…

Here, we provide the most detailed account of behaviors surrounding birth for any wild nonhuman primate to date. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Over a recent ∼10-year period, we directly observed 15 diurnal births (13 live births and 2 stillbirths) among geladas (Theropithecus gelada) at Guassa…

The present study examined the lived experience (erlebnis) of adult transracial, Korean-born adoptees (Ibyangin; Yngvesson & Coutin, 2006) raised in the United States by White families. Long interviews (McCracken, 1988) were conducted with fourteen young adult (age 26-30) Korean-born adoptees in-person or by phone. The study was anchored in the constructivist-interpretivist research paradigm (Ponterotto, 2005) and utilized the phenomenological in…

Two counseling psychology faculty members initiated and supervised a Participatory Action Research (PAR) team comprised…

  • Fitness impacts of tapeworm parasitism on wild gelada monkeys at Guassa, Ethiopia

Open Access•Nga Nguyen, Peter J Fashing et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2015

Parasitism is expected to impact host morbidity or mortality, although the fitness costs of parasitism have rarely been quantified for wildlife hosts. Tapeworms in the genus Taenia exploit a variety of vertebrates, including livestock, humans, and geladas (Theropithecus gelada), monkeys endemic to the alpine grasslands of Ethiopia. Despite Taenia's adverse societal and economic impacts, we know little about the prevalence of disease associated wi…
