    Dysfunctional children are known to have negative effects on parents. The present study investigated whether such children affect parents' attitudes towards life and death. Attitudes of a sample of 21 parents of mildly dysfunctional children were compared to those of parents of nondysfunctional children.     To determine the test-retest reliability of the Barron Ego Strength Scale (Es) administered out of the context of the MMPI, two groups of college males were given the test twice over a 2-mo. interval. Test-retest correlations of .75 and .81 are equivalent to those reported for the Es scale administered in the context of the MMPI, supporting the use of the 68-item scale as an independent measure
