Bronze Age gold torques from Bulgaria
The paper presents 12 gold torques from Bulgaria dated to the last centuries of the 3 rd – first half of the 2 nd millennium BC. Two main groups – with flattened and rolled back ends (Group 1) considered to be chronologically later, and with rolled back and wrapped over the bar ends (Group 2) considered to be earlier, are distinguished. Despite numerous artifacts being uncovered each year by archaeological excavations around the world, only a select few are displayed and recorded in museums while the rest remain hidden away in storage facilities. Early Bronze Age Pamukli bair barrow near Malomirovo and the problem of east-oriented barrow graves in Upper Thrace
In 2021, excavations of a barrow were conducted on the Pamukli Bair hill in Malomirovo, Elhovo municipality, Upper Thrace, Bulgaria. These excavations yielded a remarkable discovery – a sequence of graves dating back to the late fourth and third millennium BC. Notably, these findings prominently featured elements of the early Pit-Grave culture, also known as the Yamna culture. However, the commencement of this burial sequence was marked by graves…

Hr.), două epocii mijlocii a bronzului (prima jumătate a mileniului II î. Hr.) și unul atribuit epocii târzii a bronzului (a doua jumătate a mileniului II î.…

Mykenische Keramik in der Rhodopenregion. Herkunft, regionaler Kontext und sozialökonomische Grundlagen
This contribution is dealing with Mycenaean pottery from the settlement sites of Dragoyna in the Rhodopes and Koprivlen in the Mesta Valley. The production regions of that pottery could be established by means of Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA), and we compare the earlier results of Dragoyna with the new ones from Koprivlen. These results give us the opportunity to re-evaluate the development of contacts between the eastern Balkans, the norther…
