  • Temporality of Trait Construct and Trait Distribution Change

Open Access•S David Farr, Lisa Tedesco‐Stratton•ARTICLE•Journal for the Theory of Social…•1977•References: 1

  • Violation of Assumed Normality in Traditional Multidimensional Scaling

    Open Access•Michael J Subkoviak, S David Farr•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1976

Traditional multidimensional scaling is a two-stage procedure. Thurstone's comparative judgment model is often used in the initial stage to determine the perceived distance between pairs of objects, under the assumption that the perceived distance between each pair is normally distributed across a population of subjects. These distances are used in the second stage to construct a geometric configuration of the objects in multidimensional space. A…

  • Generalizability Of Free-Recall Measurements

    Samuel S Peng, S David Farr•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1976

This study investigated the generalizability of free-recall measurements. Subjects were 55 fifth-grade pupils, who completed ten trials of recalling familiar nouns plus two summary trials. The observation conditions included two list lengths (20 and 30 words), two rates of presentation (1 1/2 and 2 1/4 seconds per word), and two occasions (two weeks apart). Alpha factor analysis indicated that (1) the measurement procedures may be conceived of as…

  • Stable and Dynamic Components of Self-Report Self-Concept

    S David Farr, Cathleen M Kubiniec•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1972

Principal components analysis of semmbic differential responses of university freshmen to the concepts MY PAST, MY FUTURE, MY REAL SELF, and MY IDEAL SELF on 15 bipolar adjective scales revealed two types of components. Consktency of response to evaluative scales was found within the stimulus concept, with approximate independence across concepts. Descriptive scales showed consisteney across the four concepts and approximate independence from oth…

  • Bimultivariate Redundancy

    John K Miller, S David Farr•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1971

A generalized algorithm for estimating the proportion of total variance that one multivariate measurement battery explains in another is described. The generality of the algorithm is exemplified empirically by comparing and contrasting solutions based on alternative methods of orthogonalizing the same basic data. The results observed on the computed examples underscore 3 important characteristics of measures of interbattery association

  • Concept-Scale and Concept-Component Interaction in the Semantic Differential

    Open Access•Cathleen M Kubiniec, S David Farr•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1971

A variation of concept-scale interaction in the semantic differential, labeled concept-component interaction, is discussed. A comparison is made of various methods of analyzing semantic differential data, and an alternative method is introduced which provides evidence of concept-component interaction. Implications for semantic differential measurement are discussed

  • Component Scores for Reduced Rank, Transformed Solutions

    Open Access•S David Farr•ARTICLE•American Educational Research…•1971•Cited by: 1•References: 13
