Generalization and Maintenance of Treatment Gains Using Self-Management Procedures with Behaviorally Disordered Adolescents
Using reversal design (A-B-A-B) we investigated the effectiveness of self-management strategies to reduce disruptive, off-task behavior for three students from a self-contained classroom for behaviorally disordered students. Two were boys (ages 13 yr., 2 mo. and 14 yr., 4 mo.) and one a girl (age 13 yr., 3 mo.). The study investigated the maintenance and generalizability of treatment gains in a regular education setting. Special Education and Research on Developmentally Delayed Children in China
Attending to the effects of developmental delay is one of the most important problems for medicine and education in contemporary society. The degree to which attention is paid to developmental delay reflects a nation's level of civilisation. Until several years ago, research on developmental delay was minimal in China. Yet, there have been dramatic changes and significant developments since China's so-called "Cultural Revolution" (1966-76). By ex…
Utility and Efficacy of Knowledge of Behavioral Principles as Applied to Children
The instrument, Knowledge of Behavioral Principles as Applied to Children, was completed as pre- and posttests following a behavioral intervention by 19 parents with their own children. This paper describes and evaluates the test as a measure of parents' increased knowledge of general behavioral principles resulting from using a few behavior-management techniques at home. The emphasis is upon the utility and efficacy of the test and not on specif…
Comparison of Scores for Normal Preschool Children on the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test—Revised and the Achievement Scales of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children
The newly available Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children is the first comprehensively standardized individual assessment device published for psychoeducational diagnosticians' use since the publication in 1974 of the WISC—R. Extant investigations on K—ABC concurrent validity are restricted to those described in the test's interpretive manual. This study compared 32 normal preschoolers' responses on the K—ABC Achievement subtests with their sco…
Knowledge of Trainees in School Psychology about Children's Legal Rights
false. Response frequencies for each of the 39 items by groups were computed. In only two instances were statistically significant item differences noted between groups. Interns more accurately recognized their statutory responsibility to report children suspected of being abused (t = 2.36, p < .03) and that students have a limited right to due process when facing suspension (t = 2.95, p < .02). For the remaining 37 items no significant differenc…
