  • Shareholder Coordination and Waste Management

    Open Access•Mohamed Khalifa•ARTICLE•Business Strategy and the…•2026

This study examines how shareholder coordination relates to corporate waste management. Drawing on 1059 firm‐year observations from S&P 500 firms between 2010 and 2022, we show that higher levels of coordination among shareholders correspond to reduced waste generation. This effect is more pronounced in firms whose coordinated shareholders are more common. Moreover, we find that this negative coordination–waste link is stronger in firms with a hi…

  • Using artificial intelligence in academic writing and research

Open Access•Mohamed Khalifa, Mona Albadawy•ARTICLE•Computer Methods and Programs in…•2024

Academic writing is an essential component of research, characterized by structured expression of ideas, data-driven arguments, and logical reasoning. However, it poses challenges such as handling vast amounts of information and complex ideas. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academic writing has become increasingly important, offering solutions to these challenges. This review aims to explore specific domains where AI signifi…

  • Dural identity process for virtual community participation and impact of gender composition

Open Access•Kathy Ning Shen, Fang Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Internet Research•2017•References: 15

Purpose \n \nUnlike the earlier research that examines gender impact at the individual level, the purpose of this paper is to examine whether and how gender composition of virtual communities (VCs) interact with identity-related needs, namely identification and identity confirmation in affecting VC participation. \n \nDesign/methodology/approach \n \nDrawing on the theories and previous research of social identity and organizational identificatio…

  • System design effects on online impulse buying

    Open Access•Kathy Ning Shen, Mohamed Khalifa•ARTICLE•Internet Research•2012•Cited by: 8•References: 11

Purpose Integrating the two‐system (reflective vs. impulsive) model and the “stimulus‐organism‐response” framework, the purpose of this paper is to construct and empirically test a model that examines online impulse buying as a phenomenon triggered by system design factors. Design/methodology/approach A laboratory experimental design with a 2×2 full factorial design involving 151 undergraduate students was used to validate the effects of system d…

  • Web-based learning

Open Access•Mohamed Khalifa, Rinky Lam•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Education•2002

Educators have witnessed lately a proliferation of Web-based learning applications. These Web-learning environments have made learning much more convenient by stretching the spatial and temporal barriers. Their effectiveness, however, remains to be examined. In this research, the authors study the relative effectiveness of two different types of Web-learning environments: distributed passive learning (DPL) versus distributed interactive learning …
