  • Bidirectional adverse effects of low and high atmospheric humidity on arthritis in middle-aged and older adults

Open Access•Jingkai Di, Liying Song et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

Atmospheric humidity is a common environmental factor, and its abnormal fluctuations are associated with various diseases. This study investigated the relationship between atmospheric humidity and arthritis prevalence. Data were obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Propensity Score Matching (PSM) and Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting (IPTW) were used to control for confounders. Multivariate logistic …

  • Association between ethylene oxide exposure and osteoarthritis risk among middle-aged and young adults

Open Access•Xudong Wang, Meng Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background The relationship between exposure to ethylene oxide (EO) and the risk of developing osteoarthritis (OA) remains unclear. We aimed to explore the association between EO exposure and OA risk among young and middle-aged adults. Methods We utilized data from the 2013–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, involving 2,380 individuals aged 20–60 years. Weighted multivariable regression models, smooth curve fitting (SCF), subg…

  • Mapping wine tourists’ spatial movement patterns in an emerging wine tourism destination

Open Access•Qiushi Gu, Minglong Li et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Economics•2025

This paper explores how wine tourists move in an emerging wine tourism destination and the driving mechanisms for both the demand and supply sides. Trajectories and questionnaires were obtained. Subsequently, based on two antecedent variables, wine knowledge and self-identification, wine tourists were classified into four groups. Their respective spatial movement characteristics and demographics were obtained through social network analysis, ANOV…

  • A Heteroscedasticity-Robust Overidentifying Restriction Test with High-Dimensional Covariates

Open Access•Qingliang Fan, Zijian Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2025

This paper proposes an overidentifying restriction test for high-dimensional linear instrumental variable models. The novelty of the proposed test is that it allows the number of covariates and instruments to be larger than the sample size. The test is scale-invariant and robust to heteroskedastic errors. To construct the final test statistic, we first introduce a test based on the maximum norm of multiple parameters that could be high-dimensiona…

  • The Effects of Mindfulness Training on Emotion Regulation Among Undergraduates

Open Access•Yu Feng, Xinling Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Posthumanism•2025•Referências: 4

This study investigated the effects of an 8-week mindfulness-based intervention on two key emotion regulation strategies—cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression—among undergraduate students. It also examined whether post-intervention mindfulness level mediated the effects of the training. A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted with 70 undergraduate students, randomly assigned to either a mindfulness training group or a waitlis…

  • Time sensitivity and travel behavior patterns

    Open Access•Zijian Guo, Mei-Po Kwan et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Transport Geography•2025•Referências: 2

  • Assessing spatial configuration of barrier-free facilities from the perspective of age-friendliness

Open Access•Jian Liu, Zhongyu Lai et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Geography•2024

  • Reinterpreting activity space in tourism by mapping tourist-resident interactions in populated cities

Zhaoyu Chen, Jingjing Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Recreation Research•2024•Citada por: 2•Referências: 45

This study draws upon the concept of ‘activity space’ rooted in human geography and applies it in a contemporary urban context – Macao. Noting the growing trend of urbanisation and the blurring boundary of tourist-resident spaces, this research systematically analyses the mapping and structure of tourist and resident activity spaces, and interprets the tourist-resident interactions through their spatial–temporal behaviours. Global Positioning Sys…

  • A Vector Field Approach to Estimating Environmental Exposure Using Human Activity Data

Open Access•Zijian Guo, Xintao Liu et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2022

Environmental exposure of people plays an important role in assessing the quality of human life. The most existing methods that estimate the environmental exposure either focus on the individual level or do not consider human mobility. This paper adopts a vector field generated from the observed locations of human activities to model the environmental exposure at the population level. An improved vector-field-generation method was developed by co…

  • Overexpression of SKP2 Inhibits the Radiation-Induced Bystander Effects of Esophageal Carcinoma

    Open Access•Xiaochun Wang, Xiao-Chun Wang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

These results showed, for the first time, that SKP2 expression can inhibit RIBE of EC cells. The mechanism may function, at least partly, through the regulation of Rad51 in the ability to repair DNA damage
