The intersection of queer identity and psychedelics has not been thoroughly explored by the research community, historically or in the present day. With growing access to legal psychedelic therapies, it is essential that queer psychedelic experiences are understood sufficiently by clinicians in order to provide the most safe and effective care possible. Psychedelics and queerness are intricately related, and there is strong interest in the use of…

  • Healing Words

Raymond Feng, Terence H W Ching et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2023

Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) is gaining renewed interest as a treatment for various mental disorders. However, there has been limited Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) representation in PAP clinical trials, signaling the need for culturally consonant communication about the efficacy and safety of PAP. We randomly assigned 321 BIPOC and 301 non-Hispanic White participants to four different modes of psychoeducation (didacti…

  • Building Psychedelic Studies as an Interdisciplinary Academic Field

    Amy Bartlett, A Vallely et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for the…•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 7

The field of psychedelic studies is expanding at a rapid pace and the need for academic institutions to engage more directly with this emergent field is growing. There have been some initial moves within the academy to begin tackling this evolving landscape, but these efforts have been relatively siloed along traditional disciplinary lines. Academic inquiry helps shape our collective engagement with – and understanding of – the world around us. A…

  • Dr. Valentina Wasson

    Open Access•M T Williams, Amy Bartlett et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychedelic Studies•2021•References: 4

Equity and diversity are essential to the development of inclusive psychedelic research. However, oversights and misattributions are common, particularly when it comes to accounts of important psychedelic moments and key figures. Dr. Valentina Pavlovna Wasson is an important early contributor to the growth of Western psychedelic science but remains under-recognized. Psychedelic researchers must continue to address the glaring need to ask question…

The Night Visions of Zechariah against the background of conflict in the early postexilic community in Judah. In this article Paul D Hanson's view that the Night Visions of Zechariah should be interpreted against the background of a situation of conflict in post-exilic society is taken up. His description of the text as a hierocratic document aimed at the restoration of the pre-exilic status quo is however challenged. It is indicated that the Nig…
