Green computing infrastructure for climate-resilient cities
Public data openness and urban resilience governance
Material price surges threaten an equitable and timely renewable energy transition
Clear skies after the haze
A framework for the mitigation and adaptation from heat-related risks to infrastructure
Seabird Transfer of Nutrients and Trace Elements from the North Water Polynya to Land during the Mid-Holocene Warm Period, Carey Islands, Northwest Greenland + Supplementary Appendix Figure S1 (See Ar…
Seabird guano from large nesting colonies is known to increase trace metal levels in adjacent terrestrial environments today, when global oceans are contaminated with Hg, Cd, and other metals. But the effect of seabird guano in the pre-industrial period has rarely been studied. We used stable C and N isotopic and trace element analyses of a peat core that represents ca. 2000 years of organic matter accumulation to examine the effect on trace elem…
Facilitating climate change adaptation through communication
The role of science diplomacy
What is the potential and demonstrated role of non-life insurers in fulfilling climate commitments? A case study of Nordic insurers
Collaboration between the natural, social and human sciences in Global Change Research
Responses to Air Pollution Based on Historical and Current Policies in the EU and Asean
This review paper focuses on an important new question: how can climate change affect maritime and other cities of Southeast Asia, and what challenges and possible responses can be identified based on historical and current regional policies and action, especially with regard to air pollution? This review was undertaken as part of the ISDP and ISEAS sponsored initiative: Regional Cooperation in Environmental Protection: Lessons from Two Regions (…
An Improved Motorized Corer and Sample Processing System for Frozen Peat
An improved corer and associated equipment for obtaining continuous samples of frozen peat are described. We developed the system through laboratory and field trials - on Bathurst Island, Nunavut, Canada in 2000 and Nordvestø, Carey Islands, Greenland, in 2001 - as part of efforts to collect continuous samples of Arctic peat cores for an environmental archive of heavy metal and persistent organic pollutants. A new system for precise slicing of fr…
