Open Access•Yufeng Hu, Z Li et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

The extension of agricultural industry to manufacturing and service industry is the development direction of the rural industrial integration. Empirical evidence demonstrates that industrial chain extension and reinforcement significantly enhance value creation. This research examines how industrial integration influences the value-added processes of the industrial chain, focusing on agricultural industry transformation. We discuss the industrial…

  • Monitoring of mental health in occupational populations: A study on the role and application of HDL-related inflammatory index

Open Access•Ma Jingxuan, Pingcuo Yuzhen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: Mental disorders in occupational populations pose significant health and economic burdens, but there exists a lack of practical and objective biomarkers for occupational mental health monitoring. Our study aims to explore the correlation between high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-related inflammatory markers and negative psychological symptoms in occupational populations. We also seek to evaluate the potential application effectiveness of…

Open Access•Z Li, Mohd Rizal Yaakop•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Political Science•2025•References: 24

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a key role in climate governance, yet a systematic overview of their engagement at the global scale remains limited. This study aims to address this gap by systematically reviewing 40 empirical studies on NGO involvement in global climate governance. The principal findings of this research are that (1) most studies appeared in environment-focused and governance-related journals, covering less than a deca…

  • Advancing indoor risk mapping for virus transmission of infectious diseases through geographic scenario simulation

Nuozhou Shen, Haiping Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Cartography and Geographic…•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 3

Close-range interpersonal interactions serve as a major channel for virus transmission, with higher infection risks indoors than outdoors. Thus, evaluating indoor infectious disease transmission risks is vital for effective epidemic prevention and control. However, collecting complete individual-level behavioral data faces challenges due to privacy concerns and data acquisition costs, impeding accurate indoor risk mapping. To address this, we pro…

Open Access•Hao Zong Ji, Cui Jin Bai et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Background The aim of this study was to examine whether academic performance is associated with students' athletic ability in primary school. Methods A 3-year follow-up study was conducted among 1,136 Chinese students. Sit-up and jump rope testers were used to measure 1-min sit-ups and 1-min jump ropes, respectively. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory were used to estimate sleep quality and depression …

    Z Li•ARTICLE•Chinese Sociological Review•2021

Using pooled data from the 2013–2017 National Migrant Dynamics Monitoring Survey, this study examines whether and how migrants from 13 large ethnic minority groups are disadvantaged in the labor market relative to Han migrants. Results show that except for the sizable ethnic penalty paid by Uyghurs, minority-majority differences in monthly income are either small or not statistically significant. In the attainment of professional and managerial j…

    Z Li•ARTICLE•Asian Population Studies•2021•References: 37

Previous research shows that co-ethnic networks are an important factor in explaining the concentrated pattern of distribution of ethnic minority migrants. This study uses pooled data from the National Migrant Dynamics Monitoring Survey, to examine the role co-ethnic networks play in ethnic minorities’ inter-provincial migration destination choices and how it is moderated by education in China. Conditional logit models reveal that except for Manc…

  • The Aral Sea Basin: Water for Sustainable Development in Central Asia

Open Access•M Hoelzle, Martina Barandun et al.•BOOK•Chapter 8 The Status and Role of…•2019

The alpine cryosphere, including snow, glaciers and permafrost, is critical to water management in the Aral Sea Basin (ASB) and larger Central Asia (CA) under the changing climate, as it stores large amounts of water in its solid forms. Most cryospheric components in the Aral Sea Basin are close to melting point, and hence very vulnerable to a slight increase in air temperature with significant consequences to long-term water availability and to …

Systematic cold biases exist in the simulation for 2 m air temperature in the Tibetan Plateau (TP) when using regional climate models and global atmospheric general circulation models. We updated the albedo in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model lower boundary condition using the Global LAnd Surface Satellite Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer albedo products and demonstrated evident improvement for cold temperature biases…

Recently, there has been some evidence that the magnitude of social inequalities in health differed between men and women.1 Yet, those studies were carried out mostly in the industrialised world, and their conclusions were inconsistent. Meanwhile, studies of changes in social inequalities of morbidity are comparatively scarce. Therefore, in this study it was our aim to measure and compare the extent of education related inequalities in morbidity …
