  • Hoarded assemblages from the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age between the Vistula and the Bug

    Open Access•Halina Taras•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2025•Referências: 6

The paper summarises the state of knowledge on hoarded assemblages in central-eastern Poland, covering various research aspects, including the state of laboratory investigation of these assemblages. The reasons for the relatively small number of finds of this type between the Vistula and Bug rivers are analysed, as well as the nature of individual hoards (reasons for deposition), the composition of their assemblage, and chronology. The provenance…

  • The Absolute Chronology of Collective Burials From the 2nd Millennium Bc in East Central Europe

Open Access•Przemysław Makarowicz, Tomasz Goslar et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2021•Citada por: 5•Referências: 30

This article discusses the absolute chronology of collective burials of the Trzciniec Cultural Circle communities of the Middle Bronze Age in East Central Europe. Based on Bayesian modeling of 91 accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon (AMS 14 C) dates from 18 cemeteries, the practice of collective burying of individuals was linked to a period of 400–640 (95.4%) years, between 1830–1690 (95.4%) and 1320–1160 (95.4%) BC. Collective burials in mo…

  • Mitochondrial genomes from Bronze Age Poland reveal genetic continuity from the Late Neolithic and additional genetic affinities with the steppe populations

Open Access•Anna Juras, Przemysław Makarowicz et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2020•Citada por: 2•Referências: 37

Objective In this work we aim to investigate the origins and genetic affinities of Bronze Age populations (2,400–1,100 BC) from the region of southern Poland and to trace maternal kinship patterns present in the burials of those populations by the use of complete mitochondrial genomes. Materials and methods We performed ancient DNA analyses for Bronze Age individuals from present‐day Poland associated with the Strzyżow culture, the Mierzanowice c…

  • Studies on the Beginnings of the Bronze Age in South-Eastern Poland

    Open Access•Halina Taras•ARTICLE•Archaeologia Polona•2019

The article refers to Jan Kowalczyk's interest in the transition from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age in Poland, as well as observations regarding the technological and morphological features of ceramics in the context of his research in Grdek, Hrubieszw district
