  • On the classification of C6 (tuberculum sextum) of the mandibular molars

    Open Access•Harris J Keene•ARTICLE•Human Evolution•1994•Cited by: 2•References: 15

  • On heterochrony in heterodonty: A review of some problems in tooth morphogenesis and evolution

    Open Access•Harris J Keene•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1991

Although initial discussions and speculations about the role of acceleration and retardation in the relative timing of ontogenetic events associated with dental evolution, dental development, and heterodonty can be found in the literature as early as a century ago, morphogenetic processes and mechanisms remain elusive and formal heterochronic and mechanistic models employing mathematical principles, especially those that are testable, have only r…

  • The morphogenetic triangle: A new conceptual tool for application to problems in dental morphogenesis

    Open Access•Harris J Keene•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1982•Cited by: 6•References: 17

A hypothetical mathematical model of human dental crown height attainment during morphogenesis was developed. The model is based on well‐known histologic stages of tooth development from initiation to crown completion, with special emphasis on the dynamics and life‐cycle of the cells of the inner enamel epithelium. From three temporal events (P, initiation of proliferation; D, initiation of differentiation; C, crown completion), and crown height …

  • Impact of Fluoridated Water on the Caries‐experience of Naval Recruits

    Open Access•Harris J Keene, Frank A Catalanotto•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Health Dentistry•1974

The investigators at the Naval Dental Research Institute, who reported this study, have performed a unique service for those dentists interested in learning the impact of fluoridation on dental practice

  • Australopithecine dental dimensions in a contemporary population

    Open Access•Harris J Keene•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1967•Cited by: 4•References: 3

Two unrelated American negro males with extremely large teeth are described. The maximum reported values for Australian aboriginal mesiodistal crown diameter are exceeded in 8 out of 16 tooth groups. The majority of the negro dental measurements either exceed or lie between the mean values given in the literature for Australopithecus and Paranthropus. This casts doubt on the concept that a distinct morphological gap separates fossil from contempo…

  • Distribution of diastemas in the dentition of man

    Open Access•Harris J Keene•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1963•Cited by: 1•References: 6
