  • Growth of the maxillary complex in the rhesus monkey ( Macaca mulatta )

    Open Access•James A McNamara, Michael L Riolo et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1976•Cited by: 7•References: 11

The growth of the maxillary complex of 36 rhesus monkeys ( Macaca mulatta ) was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively during four defined stages of postnatal development (i.e., infant, juvenile, adolescent, young adult). At each stage, growth was observed during a 24 week period. Since some animals were observed during two successive stages of development, 47 periods of growth were studied. The incremental growth data were collected by superi…

  • Mandibular growth in the rhesus monkey ( Macaca mulatta )

    Open Access•James A McNamara, Lee W Graber•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1975•Cited by: 3•References: 8

Mandibular growth of 42 rhesus monkeys ( Macaca mulatta ) was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Four groups of animals were defined according to dentitional age (i.e., infant, juvenile, adolescent, young adult). At each age growth was observed for a 24 week period. Since some animals were observed at more than one stage of development, 57 periods of growth were studied. The growth incremental data were collected by superimposing serial c…

  • Craniofacial growth in juvenile Macaca mulatta: A cephalometric study

Open Access•Jose Carlos Elgoyhen, Michael L Riolo et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1972•Cited by: 10•References: 11

This paper describes a study of normal craniofacial growth of the juvenile rhesus monkey ( Macaca mulatta ). Serial data of 13 young monkeys of specific dental age were studied for a five month period by cephalometric radiography and the metallic implant technique. Growth patterns were described and localized growth changes quantified to determine the range of variability. Variability was found within areas of specific bones, e.g., the gonial reg…
