  • Estimation of fat-free mass from stature and X-ray muscle widths at thigh and calf regions in Indian males

    H Bharadwaj, S S Verma et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1984

  • Relationship of body density and lean body mass to body measurements: Application to Indian soldiers of relationships developed for people of European descent

    Open Access•P R M Jones, Satwanti Satwanti et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1982

Body density was measured directly in 90 young Indian soldiers from the Gurkha, Rajput and South Indian regiments. Body density was also predicted on the same subjects using skinfold thicknesses as well as other anthropometric measurements. Validity of the regression equations of Pascale, Grossman, Sloan and Frankel (1956), Sloan (1967) and Wilmore and Behnke (1969) was also tested on these Indian soldiers. Lean body mass was estimated directly f…

  • Revised regression equations for prediction of fat-free mass of Indian females

Satwanti Satwanti, H Bharadwaj et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1981

  • Lognormal distribution of some anthropometric measurements in healthy Indian males

S S Verma, Shankar Verma et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1981

  • Body fat and fat-free mass assessed by densitometric and anthropometric techniques in adult Indian women

Satwanti Satwanti, Indera P Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1980

Measurements of per cent body fat and lean body mass were made on 50 adult Indian women, 25 to 32 years old, and were correlated with a battery of 50 body measurements taken on the same subjects. Regression equations were developed for predicting per cent body fat and lean body mass from different combinations of body measurements. The best multiple regression equation, incorporating chin and chest skinfold thickness as well as cup-size, resulted…

  • Body fat from skinfold thicknesses and weight-height indices: A comparison

Satwanti Satwanti, Indera P Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1980

  • Fat distribution in lean and obese young indian women: A densitometric and anthropometric evaluation

    Open Access•Satwanti Indera P Singh, H Bharadwaj•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1980•Cited by: 2•References: 11

The pattern of fat distribution in lean and obese young Indian women was studied using seven girths and ten skinfold thicknesses. Though the lean and obese subjects differed significantly with respect to their body weight and total body fat content, body girths indicated that the proportion of fat distributed between the extremities and over the trunk region was essentially similar. By comparing skinfold thicknesses, it was observed that the fat …

  • Body composition of young Indian women

Satwanti Satwanti, H Bharadwaj et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1979

  • Anthropometric determination of body volume, body density and segmental volume in adult Indian women

Open Access•Chand Raja, Raghbir Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1977

Body density, total body volume, leg volume and arm volume of 65 young Indian women 20-25 years were measured experimentally. In addition, a series of 61 anthropometric measurements were also taken on each subject. Correlations of leg volume with total body volume and body density were 0.91 and -0.73 respectively and of arm volume with total body volume and body density were 0.84 and -0.66 respectively. Hip girth alone showed a very high positive…

  • Estimation of leg muscle volume from radiographs: A simplification

    H Bharadwaj, P R M Jones et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1975
