    Open Access•Romeo Hristov, Romeo H Hristov et al.•ARTICLE•Ancient Mesoamerica•1999•Cited by: 1

In this article we discuss the results of the re-examination of a terracotta head of supposed Roman origin found in a pre-Hispanic burial offering near Mexico City. A thermoluminescent age test performed in 1995 at the Forschungsstelle Archäometrie in Heidelberg, Germany, set the age limits of the artifact at 1780 ± 400 b.p., which is consistent with the Roman-origin hypothesis. A review of the circumstances of this discovery did not demonstrate …

We hoped to gain a better understanding of friction and violence phenomena. The Acali ex…

  • Violence and behavior: A Symposium on the origins of man's inhumanity to man

Open Access•John Paddock, Santiago Genovés•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1974•Cited by: 1

Biological and social scientists met to consider violence as a form of human behavior. Rather than conflicting conclusions, what emerged was a set of hypotheses — some of long standing, others new — that tended to fit together and form a coherent, if still far from complete, picture in spite of the striking diversity of disciplines and methods represented. Not for the first time, but with unusual force, the old idea of heredity versus experience …

    Open Access•Santiago Genovés•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1967•Cited by: 67•References: 8

A total of 235 (176 ♂ and 59 ♀) cadavers were measured. Of these blood samples of 132 (103 ♂ and 29 ♀) are drawn. Only those cadavers of which the long bones could be measured afterwards were used in the investigation, and of these only those whose blood was of group O and Rh +. A sample of 98 (69 ♂ and 29 ♀) was thus arrived at and divided morphoscopically into seven categories going from “pure” Indian to “pure” white. With electronic computers,…

IT IS COMMON for students in different branches of science to exert themselves in the effort to obtain new and positive results from their researches; and misconceptions often arise precisely because of the deep-rooted idea that they ought to be 'proving', or giving a definite status to, something, whereas in reality they can only state what they have found and not what they may have set out to find. To have reached a 'proof,' or to have arrived …
