Proteome-wide Mendelian randomisation identifies causal links between blood proteins and myopia
Background: Myopia is one of the most prevalent eye diseases worldwide, and its incidence is increasing. However, effective pharmaceutical treatments remain limited. We aimed to identify blood proteins causally associated with myopia as potential drug targets. Methods: We performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis involving 43 862 myopia cases and 84 820 controls. Then, we conducted a Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis of b…
Diffusion Abnormality in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Patients With Sleep Disorders: A Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging Study
TLE patients with sleep disorders have different DKI parameters than individuals who do not have sleep issues. During this process, the kurtosis parameter (MK) was more sensitive than the tensor parameters (MD, FA) in detecting the patient's aberrant white matter diffusion. DKI may be a better choice for in vivo investigation of anomalous craniocerebral water diffusion
Analysis of the differentiation in human vulnerability to earthquake hazard between rural and urban areas: Case studies in 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake (2008) and 4.20 Ya’an Earthquake (2013), China
Increasing breadth of the frontal lobe but decreasing height of the human brain between two Chinese samples from a Neolithic site and from living humans
Morphological observation and measurements of endocasts have played a vital role in research on the evolution of the human brain. However, endocasts have never been used to investigate how the human brain has evolved since the Neolithic period. We investigated the evolution of the human brain during the Holocene by comparing virtual endocasts from Beiqian site (a Neolithic Chinese site) and a sample of Chinese modern‐day humans. Standardized meas…
