  • Transition-Age Youth in Foster Care: Higher Education Enrollment and Use of Supports

Open Access•Daniel J Gibbs, Grace Bagwell Adams et al.•ARTICLE•Families in Society The Journal…•2026

Transition-age youth (TAY) in foster care experience significant challenges in leveraging higher education opportunities during their transition to adulthood. Education and Training Vouchers (ETVs) are a key resource, but research about access is limited. This study linked administrative data to examine how foster care experiences such as extended foster care (EFC) and placement stability may be associated with higher education enrollment and ETV…

  • Comparison of the Pathway to Hospice Enrollment Between Medicare Advantage and Traditional Medicare

Open Access•Claire K Ankuda, Emmanuelle Bélanger et al.•ARTICLE•JAMA Health Forum•2023

Compared with TM beneficiaries, those in MA were more likely to enroll in hospice from community settings vs following inpatient stays. However, hospice length of stay was not substantially different between MA and TM. Further research is needed to understand how MA plans influence hospice use and the direct association with quality of end-of-life care as reported by older adults and their families

  • Harnessing Covid-19 Data Through Collaboration—The Consortium of HCA Healthcare and Academia for Research Generation

Open Access•Jonathan B Perlin, Jonathan Perlin et al.•ARTICLE•JAMA Health Forum•2022

What should a health system do when in possession of the largest and most coherent data set that could help accelerate the understanding of COVID-19 and its treatment? For HCA Healthcare, a large health care organization comprised of 185 hospitals and more than 2000 sites of care in 20 US states and the UK, the answer to this question was a matter of social responsibility: harness the potential of this asset through data sharing and research coll…

  • Nowhere to go: Housing pathways of college students with foster care and homelessness experience

    Open Access•Kim Skobba, Diann Moorman et al.•ARTICLE•Child & Family Social Work•2022•References: 6

This study builds on previous research to understand longer term housing experiences in late adolescence and early adulthood for vulnerable college students. Using a biographical, qualitative method, we study high school and college housing and family circumstances for 27 students with homelessness or foster care experience enrolled in 4‐year colleges in Georgia. We identified three different housing pathway types in high school—family homelessne…

Open Access•Kim Skobba, Diann Moorman et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Adolescent Research•2021•References: 3

Qualitative interview data were used to explore the experiences of college students with foster care or homelessness experiences. Participants, with an average age of 21 years, included 18 female and nine male students with a history of homelessness or foster care enrolled in several independent 4-year colleges in one Southeastern state. Participants were recruited through a flyer that was distributed via an email message to individuals and organ…

  • Principal‐components analysis of prehistoric South Asian crania

    Open Access•Kenneth A R Kennedy, John Chiment et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1984•Cited by: 4•References: 16

Principal‐components analysis is used as an investigative procedure for establishing temporal, spatial and evolutionary‐developmental changes in Homo sapiens skeletal specimens from prehistoric sites in South Asia. It is concluded that cranial variables which cluster hunter‐gatherers within the sample are related to facial architecture with respect to robusticity and size. Older models presumably reflecting genetic affinities and racial classific…
