  • New data of 87Sr/86Sr ratio in classical marble

Open Access•M Brilli, Giancarlo Cavazzini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2005•Cited by: 17•References: 1

  • Multi‐method Marble Provenance Determinations

Open Access•Donato Attanasio, Giovanna Armiento et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2000•Cited by: 8•References: 16

A multi‐method approach, based on petrography, stable isotope data and electron spin resonance spectroscopy for assigning the provenance of white marbles, is presented. A total of 11 experimental variables has been used, including the quantitative measurement of the sample colour and its homogeneity. On this basis we attempt to distinguish the three main quarrying basins of the Carrara district, that is, Torano, Miseglia and Colonnata. Such discr…

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates XVI

    Open Access•M Alessio, L Allegri et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1978•Cited by: 2•References: 30

This list includes dates measured from July 1975 to December 1976 with CO 2 proportional counters. All archaeologic and geologic samples except for Turkey and Sistan series come from Italian territory. Laboratory equipment, largely unchanged but expanded and technically improved, has been previously described (Alessio et al , 1970b, 1976)

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates XIV

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1976•Cited by: 11•References: 27

This list includes dates measured from January 1974 to June 1975 with previously described CO 2 proportional counters (Alessio et al , 1970b). All archaeologic and geologic samples except for Arslantepe series come from Italian territory. Chemical apparatus for CO 2 preparation and purification is unchanged (Alessio et al , 1970b). Data recording devices have recently been replaced with integrated circuits built entirely at the Lab. The logic of …

  • Carbon and Oxygen Isotope Ratios of Marbles From Some Ancient Quarries of Western Anatolia and Their Archaeological Significance

Open Access•Luigia Manfra, Umberto Masi et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•1975•Cited by: 15•References: 4

S 13 C/ 12 C and 18 O/ 16 O ratios have been measured for 42 marbles from the main quarry localities of archaeological interest of Western Anatolia (Marmara, Ephesos, Aphrodisias, Denizli and Afyon) in order to test the possibility of isotopically characterizing ancient marbles from this region. The various groups of samples are not clearly distinguishable on a δ 13 C‐δ 18 O diagram. However, if only white or slightly coloured samples are conside…

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates XII

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1974•Cited by: 4•References: 8

This list includes age measurements carried out from January 1972 to December 1973 with previously described CO 2 -proportional counters (Alessio et al , 1970). All archaeologic and geologic samples but one come from Italian territory

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates X

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1973•Cited by: 6•References: 7

This list includes age measurements made from November 1970 to December 1971. All archaeologic and geologic samples come from Italian territory. Laboratory equipment, largely unchanged but expanded and technically improved, was previously described (Alessio et al. , 1970a). Charcoal and wood samples underwent standard pretreatment by boiling with 5 to 10% HCl; α -labeled samples were given additional leaching with 6% NH 4 OH or 0.2N NaOH

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates IX

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1971•Cited by: 7•References: 12

This list includes age measurements carried out from November 1969 to December 1970. All archaeologic and geologic samples come from Italian territory. Laboratory equipment, largely unchanged, has been described (Alessio et al. , 1970)

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates VIII

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1970•Cited by: 17•References: 14

This list includes age measurements carried out from December 1968 to October 1969. Archaeologic samples are from Italian and Swat (W Pakistan) territories. All geologic samples come from Italian territory. Chemical techniques remain the same (Bella and Cortesi, 1960; Alessio, Bella, and Cortesi, 1964)

  • University of Rome Carbon-14 Dates VII

    Open Access•M Alessio, F Bella et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1969•Cited by: 10•References: 29

We list measurements carried out between June and November 1968. Archaeologic samples are from Italian and Swat (W Pakistan) territories; all geologic samples are from Italian territory. Chemical preparation of samples, measurement technique, and the modern standard are unchanged (Bella and Cortesi, 1960; Alessio, Bella, and Cortesi, 1964; Alessio et al. , 1968). For each sample of CO 2 the counting rate was corrected according to mass-spectromet…
