  • Reforming China’s polar science and technology system

Lulu Zhang, Jian Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Interdisciplinary Science Reviews•2019•Cited by: 1

Along with its modernization process, China has developed many interests in polar ecology and has connected the significance of the Antarctic and Arctic to its national interests. We present an in-depth analysis and assessment of the state of the art of China’s polar research from following points of view, mechanism of policy making on polar affairs, science diplomacy and polar governance, on-spot research expedition management, allocation of sci…

  • Palaeotsunami in the East China Sea for the past two millennia

Open Access•Wenqing Yang, Xin Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Landing history of ‘urus’ and its influence on the bird ecosystem in Dongdao Island, Xisha Islands of South China Sea

Open Access•Da Shao, Xiaodong Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Enso variability around 2000 years ago recorded by Tridacna gigas δ 18 O from the South China Sea

Open Access•Hong Yan, Chengcheng Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • On selecting bulk fjord sediment samples for radiocarbon dating in Fildes Peninsula, Antarctica

Open Access•Zhuding Chu, LIGUANG SUN et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2016

  • Seawater Temperature Seasonality in the South China Sea During the Late Holocene Derived From High-Resolution Sr/Ca Ratios of Tridacna Gigas

Open Access•Hong Yan, LIGUANG SUN et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2015

Temperature seasonality, the difference between summer and winter temperature, has significant influences on global terrestrial and marine ecosystems. However, most of proxy-based climate records are of limited temporal resolution and thus insufficient to quantify the past temperature seasonality. In this study, high-resolution Sr/Ca ratios of modern (live-caught) and fossil (dead-collected) Tridacna gigas shells from the South China Sea (SCS) we…

  • Weakened Yellow Sea Warm Current over the last 2–3 centuries

Open Access•Yuxin He, Xin Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2014

  • Re-examining the potential of using sensitive grain size of coastal muddy sediments as proxy of winter monsoon strength

Xin Zhou, Wenqing Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2014

  • Precipitation in the Yellow River drainage basin and East Asian monsoon strength on a decadal time scale

Open Access•Xin Zhou, LIGUANG SUN et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2012

Paleomonsoon strength is difficult to reconstruct. The strength of the East Asian monsoon and precipitation over large areas correlate well on a decadal time scale. Thus, monsoon strength can be reconstructed through proxies of sediments originating from large areas. In the present study, we investigated the characteristics of a sediment core from the Northern Yellow Sea Mud. The results showed that sedimentary characteristics are mainly controll…

  • Desiccation cracks in Zhoushan Archipelago, East China Sea, developed during Heinrich event 3

Open Access•Nan Jia, Yuhong Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2012

Large desiccation cracks were discovered in the intertidal zone of Zhoushan archipelago, East China Sea. Radiocarbon dating showed that desiccation cracks were formed around 31.2–30.4 cal ka BP. Palynological, mineralogical, and elemental geochemical analyses indicated that the cracks were formed as the result of an abrupt climate shift event. The climate changed from warm and humid, to cold and arid, and back to warm and humid again. This climat…

  • Prehistoric Culture, Climate and Agriculture at Yuchisi, Anhui Province, China

Open Access•LIBIN XU, LIGUANG SUN et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2011•References: 33

A palaeoculture sediment profile from the Yuchisi site, Mengcheng County of Anhui Province, China, was sampled to study the concentrations of elements, total carbon content, grain size and pollen percentages, to reveal information on food supply based on statistical analysis of elements between 5050 cal. yr bp and 4000 cal. yr bp . The variations in the reconstructed food supply and pollen percentages are in good agreement with the results of oth…
