  • Applying psychological type and psychological temperament theory to the congregations at cathedral carol services

Leslie J Francis, Owen Edwards et al.•ARTICLE•Mental Health Religion & Culture•2021

Psychological type theory and temperament theory provide lenses through which the distinctive appeal of different forms of Christian worship may be interpreted. Studies of regular Sunday congregations in Anglican churches in England and Wales find strong representation of sensing types and feeling types and of the Epimethean Temperament. In order to explore whether the very distinctive provision of cathedral carol services attracted a different p…

Open Access•Marian Klamer, Owen Edwards et al.•ARTICLE•Wacana Journal of the Humanities…•2021•References: 1

Researchers use different approaches when collecting and managing primary language materials during fieldwork. Yet it is important that this work is done in a transparent way, so that it can be used by other researchers, who might have other aims, as well as by the speaker community who might want to use or take note of the collected materials. In this article we use our research experience in language data collection in and around Indonesia in f…

    Open Access•Owen Edwards•ARTICLE•Morphology•2018•References: 15

By proposing that Amarasi \nhas an obligatory CVCVC foot in which C-slots can be empty all these \nphonological proc…

    Owen Edwards, Owen D Edwards•ARTICLE•Implicit Religion•2015

Conceived by Sydney Newman and released on British television screens from 1963, Doctor Who has, except for a 16 year hiatus from 1989 to 2005, been established Saturday evening viewing for more than 50 years. Spawning hundreds of products related to the show, as well as numerous spin-offs in multiple media, Doctor Who has transcended its humble beginnings to become a lucrative and popular franchise. More importantly, the show has become embedded…

  • Say one for me

Tania ap Siôn, Owen Edwards•ARTICLE•Mental Health Religion & Culture•2013

Within the field of the psychology of prayer, there has been a growing interest in empirical studies concerned with the analysis of the content of ordinary people's private prayers, with a view to providing a more nuanced understanding of the psychological correlates of prayer among those who engage in the activity. One research tradition has focused on the content analysis of intercessory prayer requests left in church-related settings, and it i…

  • Praying ‘online’

Tania ap Siôn, Owen Edwards•ARTICLE•Journal of Beliefs and Values•2012

Astley’s construct of ordinary theology takes seriously listening to the religious expression and experience of ordinary people, both churched and unchurched. One method by which this has already been achieved is through the empirical analysis of the content of ordinary people’s intercessory prayer requests left in hospitals and churches. Building on this research tradition, the current study analyses 290 prayer requests posted on the Church of E…
