Characterization Of Early Imperial Lacquerware From The Luozhuang Han Tomb, China
This paper focuses on the characterization of materials from fragmented pieces of an imperial lacquer plate in the Luozhuang Han tomb, which dates to the early Western Han dynasty. Various non-invasive and minimally invasive techniques were performed, including optical and electron microscopy, XRF, Raman spectromicroscopy, FT–IR, XRD and THM-Py–GC/MS. The lacquerware pieces consist of a five-layer structure, which includes (from the top): a red p…
Expansão da capacidade do atendimento de ponta no Sistema Interligado Brasileiro
Within the current regulatory model of the Brazilian electricity sector, the lack of specific regulation for the market power reserve services in the long term leads to the underestimation of generation assets, especially in cases where additional investment would enable increasing the installed capacity of existing hydroelectric plants at low cost. A correct evaluation of such investment would have important consequences in the medium term, it w…
Blood as a Binding Medium in a Chumash Indian Pigment Cake
As part of a study of Chumash Indian pigments, some black pigment cakes have been examined. One pigment cake was characterized as soot by polarized light microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared microscopy showed that the binder was proteinaceous. Protein determination was followed by examination using gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry analysis which showed a characteristic suite of amino acids to be present, proportionally similar to blood.…
