  • Personality Traits and Physical Activity

    Open Access•Carsten Müller, G DEMORTIER•ARTICLE•European Journal of Investigation…•2023

This study explores the intriguing relationship between personality traits, self-rated fitness (SRF), and physical activity (PA) variables among German university students (N = 4244) and sheds light on the impact of personality on adherence to PA guidelines. Employing an online cross-sectional study, the short-form of the Big Five Inventory-2 assessed five domains of personality traits (Extraversion, Negative Emotionality, Agreeableness, Conscien…

  • Targeting Ion Beam Analysis techniques for gold artefacts

    Open Access•G DEMORTIER•ARTICLE•ArchéoSciences•2009•References: 1

The present study discusses the best experimental conditions for the quantitative analysis of gold jewellery artefacts by ion beam techniques (PIXE, RBS, PIGE and NRA). Special attention is given to the detection of enhancement or depletion below the surface, down to 10 microns, without any sampling or destruction. PIXE is certainly the most interesting technique for this purpose and the optimal geometrical arrangement of the experiment is descri…

  • Analytical study of the manufacturing techniques of Kushan gold jewellery (National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan)

    Open Access•Maria Guerra, M-F Guerra et al.•ARTICLE•ArchéoSciences•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 5

Little is known about goldsmithing during the period of the Great Kushans. In order to undertake a first approach to the technological choices and the gold alloys used in the fabrication of the different parts of Kushan objects, five gold jewellery items from the collections of the National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan containing wires and granulation were transported from Dushanbe to Paris to be studied within the European research projec…

  • Is Scanning Electron Microprobe Suitable for Complete Elemental Analysis of Solders on Gold Artifacts

    Open Access•G DEMORTIER, YVES HOUBION•ARTICLE•Oxford Journal of Archaeology•1987•Cited by: 1•References: 5

We comment on the inability of most scanning electron micro‐probes equipped with energy dispersive solid state X‐ray detectors to identify low amounts of cadmium in regions of solders on ancient artifacts. Traces of cadmium, even in the presence of high silver concentration determined with a nuclear microprobe, do not then contradict the results given by electron probes

  • La Chrysocolle Des Orfevres Est‐elle Jaune

    Open Access•G DEMORTIER•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•1987•Cited by: 2•References: 4

During the investigation of solders on ancient gold artifacts found in Iran and Syria, cadmium was found at a concentration up to several per cent. Careful interpretation of relative concentrations of copper, silver and cadmium in those solders easily enables discrimination between brazing of modern and ancient origin and forms a simple criterion of identification. Experimental archaeology corroborates this. We suggest a new interpretation of Boo…
