  • Introducing three-dimensional body mapping as a creative method for exploring embodied experiences

    Open Access•Riley, Sarah Riley et al.•ARTICLE•Feminism & Psychology•2026

This paper introduces three-dimensional (3D) body mapping, a creative methodological innovation that advances the existing feminist method of body mapping. We developed 3D body mapping to explore how feminist concerns are lived and felt through the body, and to illuminate the forms of knowledge that emerge from these embodied experiences. We situate these concerns within feminist phenomenology and recent turns toward new materialism and more-than…

  • A Cross-Cultural Comparison of the Brown Locus of Control Scale

    Open Access•Ric Brown, George A Marcoulides•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1996

Covariance modeling techniques were used to test the assumption of group invariance of the Brown Locus of Control Scale (BLOCS) by comparing results from two different populations; American and Kuwaiti adult women. Results provide support for the hypothesis that the validity of the locus of control construct could be generalized to different cultural groups with some caveats

  • Effects of Self-Tape Recording on Self-Awareness in a Context of Self-Counseling

    Open Access•James G Snider, Mary H Davis et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1984

Clinical evidence suggests that self-tape recording and listening is a useful technique for enhancing awareness in self-counseling. The question arises as to the roles of talking and listening in the process. This study experimentally compared the effects on self-awareness of three group experiences of “Talk and Listen,” “Talk Only” and “Listen Only,” using 90 graduate students in counseling as subjects. A set of self-awareness scales which utili…
