Event Centrality, Not Posttraumatic Growth, Explains Trauma Symptom Course Among Sexual Assault Survivors
This study sought to investigate event centrality and posttraumatic growth (PTG) as mediators between retrospectively reported trauma symptoms (RTS) shortly after the sexual assault occurred and self-reported trauma symptoms at the current time (CTS). College students who experienced sexual assault completed an online questionnaire. Results found that event centrality, and not PTG, mediated the relationship between RTS and CTS. This suggests that…

End-of-life treatment preferences and advanced care planning among older adults
End-of-life treatment preferences (EOLTPs) refer to the amount of medical intervention an individual would wish to receive in a life-threatening scenario. This study aimed to investigate relationships between older adults' EOLTPs and advance care planning (ACP). Using archival data from two interview surveys of community-dwelling older adults (study 1 n = 331, study 2 n = 338; age 60-102), results found that a desire for less end-of-life medical …

Factor Structure of the Self-Compassion Scale in 11 International Samples
In this study, different factor analysis models were employed to test the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) in 11 distinct populations (n = 15,266) in different countries. The results strongly suggest that the most appropriate use of the SCS is to measure levels of Self-Compassionate responding (positive items) and Self-Uncompassionate responding (negative items) separately

After controlling for age cohort and education, a desire for more medical intervention in end-of-life scenarios was associated with higher religiosity, greater …
The development of an individual differences end-of-life treatment preferences scale
The purpose of this study was to create an individual differences measure of end-of-life treatment preferences (EOLTPs). Young adults ( n = 427) and older adults ( n = 333) completed a survey. Results found that hope of recovery was an important factor in whether individuals preferred a given medical intervention. A single factor explained the majority of the variance in EOLTPs, and EOLTPs were distinct from more general attitudes about medical c…
