  • Restoration of sexual performance in old rhesus macaques paired with a preferred female partner

    Open Access•Kathleen C Chambers, Charles H Phoenix•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1984•References: 17

  • Decrease in sexual initiative and responsiveness in female rhesus macaques ( Macaca mulatta ) during pregnancy

    Open Access•Kathleen C Chambers, Charles H Phoenix•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•1982

Although the sexual behavior of female rhesus macaques ( Macaca mulatta ) has been reported to decrease during pregnancy, systematic studies have been largely confined to reports of male behavior. Therefore, we designed a study to examine changes in female sexual behavior during pregnancy. Six cycling multiparous female rhesus macaques were paired during the periovulatory period of the menstrual cycle and during the first and second halves of pre…

  • Sexual behavior in old male rhesus monkeys: Influence of familiarity and age of female partners

    Open Access•Kathleen C Chambers, Charles H Phoenix•ARTICLE•Archives of Sexual Behavior•1982•Cited by: 3•References: 12

  • Endogenous opiate systems and primate reproduction: Inability of naloxone to induce sexual activity in rhesus males

  • Copulation, dominance, and plasma androgen levels in adult rhesus males born and reared in the laboratory

    Open Access•Charles H Phoenix•ARTICLE•Archives of Sexual Behavior•1980•Cited by: 2•References: 22

  • Metric characteristics of the canine dental complex in prenatally androgenized female rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta)

    Open Access•Maurice R Zingeser, Charles H Phoenix•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1978•Cited by: 7•References: 3

Permanent maxillary canine teeth (C 1 ) are appreciably larger in males than in females in most nonhominid Anthropoidea. Mandibular canines (C 1 ) and mandibular first premolars (P 3 ), against which C 1 are sharpened in honing behavior, reflect commensurate sexual dimorphism. These three teeth constitute the canine dental complex. The canine complex crown metrics of seven mature genetically female rhesus Macaques, androgenized by prenatal exposu…

  • Organizing Action of Prenatally Administered Testosterone Propionate on the Tissues Mediating Mating Behavior in the Female Guinea Pig 1

Charles H Phoenix, Robert W Goy et al.•ARTICLE•Endocrinology•1959

The sexual behavior of male and female guinea pigs from mothers receiving testosterone propionate during most of pregnancy was studied after the attainment of adulthood. As a part of the investigation, the responsiveness of the females to estradiol benzoate and progesterone and to testosterone propionate was determined. The larger quantities of testosterone propionate produced hermaphrodites having external genitalia indistinguishable macroscopic…
