    Open Access•Anita Watzeels, Anita J Watzeels et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2026

Despite its benefits, partner notification (PN) for HIV faces multiple barriers. This study explores HIV PN experiences, barriers and enabling factors in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, between November 2019 and February 2022. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 19 recently HIV diagnosed individuals (<2 years; indexes), 11 notified partners and 10 key persons, alongside two focus groups with 10 peers. Data collection was iterative, and ana…

Open Access•Alvin Westmaas, Alvin H Westmaas et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2012

The strong correlation and predictive power of subjective norms on the intention to get tested for STI/HIV, endorses the importance of focusing on community-based intervention rather than focusing on personal determinants, to change the present perceptions and attitudes towards testing. Health promoting programs should be aimed at promoting open communication regarding sexuality and testing. Stimulating each other to get tested frequently could a…

Open Access•Nynke FB Dokkum, Rik H Koekenbier et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2012

Nearly all respondents (99.5%) were reachable by modern communication media. Response and participation rates increased significantly after the reminders. The reminder letters also seemed to result in reaching more people at risk. Incorporation of automated reminders in Internet-based (Chlamydia) screening programs is strongly recommended
