Application of DNA Fingerprinting to Familial Studies of Gabonese Primates
Sexual behavior, sexual swelling, and penile evolution in chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes)
Comparative anatomy of brain monoaminergic neurons in New World and Old World monkeys
A comparison of the distribution of brain monoamine neurons in several New World and Old World monkeys was undertaken using the Falck‐Hillarp formaldehyde histofluorescence technique. The overall organization of the monoamine neurons was very similar in all species, although subtle variations were found. Catecholamine (noradrenaline and dopamine) and indoleamine (serotonin) cell bodies corresponding to groups A1–A7, A8–A10, and B1–B9, respectivel…
Androgens and aggressive behavior in primates: A review
This review deals with possible central and peripheral effects of androgens upon primate aggressive behavior. One problem that clouds interpretation of experimental work is that measurements of dominance have often been employed, such as competition tests for food and water. Such measures often do not correlate with those obtained by quantifying aggressive interactions. It should be remembered that very few of the 188 primate species have been st…
