  • Sex differences in the associations between socioeconomic status and all-cause mortality in Chinese adults with abnormal glucose metabolism: A prospective study

    Open Access•Jiamin Yan, Jia-min Yan et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Low SES was associated with higher all-cause mortality in Chinese adults with abnormal glucose metabolism, particularly among males. These findings underscore the need for targeted public health interventions addressing SES-related disparities to reduce mortality in this population

  • Residential greenness, air pollution and visual impairment: A prospective cohort study

    Open Access•Jiamin Yan, Jia-min Yan et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

This study suggests that increased residential greenness may reduce the risk of visual impairment, partially by mitigating air pollution exposure. These findings highlight the environmental benefits to improve air quality and enhance green spaces, thereby promoting visual health in aging populations

  • Association of changes and cumulative measures of triglyceride-glucose index-body mass index with hypertension risk: A prospective cohort study

    Open Access•Jiamin Yan, Min-zhe Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

Changes in TyG-BMI and cumulative TyG-BMI were associated with an increased risk of hypertension, as well as higher cumulative SBP and DBP in Chinese middle-aged and elderly population

  • Child neglect and eating habits in primary schoolchildren: A prospective study in Wuhan, China

    Open Access•Hongjie Yu, Hong-jie Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2022•Cited by: 2•References: 37

  • Sex-Related Difference in the Association Between Child Neglect and the Accuracy of Body Weight Perception Among Chinese Primary Schoolchildren

Open Access•Hongjie Yu, Hong-jie Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Introduction: Body weight perception (BWP) directly determines weight management behaviors. Although child neglect is a well-established risk factor for managing body weight, little is known about its association with the accuracy of BWP. This study aimed to assess the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between child neglect and BWP accuracy in primary schoolchildren, and explore how these differ based on the sex of the child. Methods:…

  • Risky Sexual Behaviors and Associated Factors Among College Students in Lusaka, Zambia

Open Access•Xu-hao Yang, Xuhao Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Archives of Sexual Behavior•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 39

  • Associations of physical activity and fruit and vegetable intake with well-being and depressive symptoms among obese schoolchildren in Wuhan, China: A cross-sectional study

    Open Access•Hongjie Yu, Hong-jie Yu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2018

The prevalence of childhood obesity is increasing and psychological disorder is a common comorbidity of obesity. We investigated the associations of physical activity (PA) and fruit and vegetable (FV) intake with well-being and depressive symptoms among obese schoolchildren. Participants included 188 obese children aged 9.8 ± 0.7 years living in Wuhan, China. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect the children’s PA and FV intake in…

  • Combined Association of Diet and Cardiorespiratory Fitness with Metabolic Syndrome in Chinese Schoolchildren

Open Access•Wei Liao, Dian-ming Xiao et al.•ARTICLE•Maternal and Child Health Journal•2016

  • Associations of Physical Activity, Screen Time with Depression, Anxiety and Sleep Quality among Chinese College Freshmen

    Open Access•Qi Feng, Qing-le Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS ONE•2014

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the independent and interactive associations of physical activity (PA) and screen time (ST) with depression, anxiety and sleep quality among Chinese college students. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Wuhan University, China from November to December 2011. The students reported their PA, ST and socio-economic characteristics using self-administered questionnaires. Sleep quality was measured by the Pittsb…

  • Validation of an FFQ to estimate the intake of fatty acids using erythrocyte membrane fatty acids and multiple 3d dietary records

Open Access•Bo Zhang, Ping Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2010

Objective The estimation of dietary intake in population-based studies is often assessed by the FFQ. The objective of our study is to evaluate the validity of an FFQ used to assess dietary fatty acid intake among middle-aged Chinese adults in Southern China. Design The method of triads was applied to obtain the validity coefficients (VC) of the FFQ for specific fatty acids. A subsample was randomly selected from an earlier cross-sectional study. …
