  • An Exploratory Study on the Central Nervous Correlates of Sexual Excitation and Sexual Inhibition

Katja Unterhorst, Hannah Gerwinn et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 2

The Sexual Inhibition/Sexual Excitation Scales (SIS/SES) measure sexual excitation and sexual inhibition proneness. We used SIS and SES scores of 62 heterosexual teleiophilic men ( M age 34.3, SD = 9.9) to predict brain activation levels during the presentation of male and female visual sexual stimuli in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. Statistical analyses revealed significant correlations. SES and SIS1 scores were positively associat…

  • Investigating the Task Dependency of Viewing Time Effects

Alexander Pohl, Arne Wolters et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2015•Cited by: 3

The viewing time method (VT) is an indirect measure of sexual interest in which participants are usually asked to rate the sexual attractiveness of target stimuli while their response latencies are unobtrusively measured. Higher response latencies for a certain group of depicted individuals indicate sexual interest in that group. Contrary to the general assumption that the picture content accounts for this effect by eliciting affect- or attention…
