    Open Access•Miguel Urrutia, Christian Robles Báez•ARTICLE•Revista Desarrollo y Sociedad•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Colombia’s high concentration of income and the moderate economic performance are both explained, at least in some part, by the shortcomings of its fiscal policy. In this sense, this article points out that a robust fiscal policy, with greater social spending and greater tax collection, is essential to improve the distribution of income and contribute to greater economic growth. We maintain that there is no dilemma between a greater weight of the…

Open Access•Karim Campusano, Franck Gaudichaud et al.•ARTICLE•Nuevo mundo mundos nuevos•2017•Cited by: 2

It is analyzed how the position of Londres 38 (Yucatán quarter) as part of the terrorist device of the \nState, entails the prioritization of the containment of a specific type of socio-political forces connected \nwith communities of indigenous peoples, peasants, shantytowns, fabric workers, and other forms of \nhumble life. All this was causing a process in which these socio-political forces became exterior to the \nconstitutive dichotomies of …

  • Winners and Losers in Colombia's Economic Growth of the 1970s

Jonathan Hartlyn, Miguel Urrutia•ARTICLE•Hispanic American Historical Review•1987

Colombia experienced substantial economic growth during the decade of the 1970s, but the question of who has benefited from this growth is the subject of some discussion. The weight of opinion is that the growth in the 1970s did not help the poor or improve the distribution of income. This study examines a wide array of data and arrives at a different conclusion--namely, that the income distribution did not deteriorate and that the real incomes o…
