  • Characterization and Mapping of Patterned Ground in the Saginaw Lowlands, Michigan

David P Lusch, Kristy E Stanley et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the Association of…•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 48

We identified, mapped, and characterized a widespread area (>1,020 km2) of patterned ground in the Saginaw Lowlands of Michigan, a wet, flat plain composed of waterlain tills, lacustrine deposits, or both. The polygonal patterned ground is interpreted as a possible relict permafrost feature, formed in the Late Wisconsin when this area was proximal to the Laurentide ice sheet. Cold-air drainage off the ice sheet might have pooled in the Saginaw Lo…

  • Tidal and meteorological induced nutrient (N, P) dynamics in the micro-tidal Ho Bugt, Danish Wadden Sea

Christian Christiansen, Christian Fynbo Christiansen et al.•ARTICLE•Geografisk Tidsskrift-Danish…•2004•Cited by: 1•References: 25

Tidal and meteorological induced variations in nutrient dynamics are important at all depth intervals in the Ho Bugt estuary. In the tidal channels, nitrate concentrations may vary ±20% and total nitrogen concentrations even more due to sedimentation/resuspension effects during the tidal cycle. On tidal flats, nutrient and carbon contents of the deposited material depend strongly on meteorological conditions and may vary 0.7% TC, 0.1% TN and 0.4%…
