  • Hottest summers the new normal

    Open Access•Suzana J Camargo, Anji Seth•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2016

With the rise in temperature due to anthropogenic climate change, the occurrence of hot summers, temperature extremes and heat waves is increasing globally. Projections for the coming decades to century indicate increases in the occurrence, magnitude and duration of these events. In a recent paper, Mueller et al (2016 Environ. Res. Lett. 11 044011 ) showed that half of summers are expected to be ‘hot’ (warmer than the warmest on record) across mu…

  • Making Sense of Twenty-First-Century Climate Change in the Altiplano

Anji Seth, Jeanne Thibeault et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the Association of…•2010•Cited by: 5•References: 31

A synthesis is presented of the first phase in regionalizing climate projections for the Altiplano, an elevated central Andean plateau in Bolivia and Peru. A prerequisite to downscaling is analysis of the large-scale forcing provided by global, multimodel climate scenarios. Global climate models in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP3) archive are employed to qualitatively evaluate the direction of change in twenty-first-century proje…
