A A szocialista lakótelepek mintaházainak jellemzői és helyük a lakáspiacon
A főváros lakásainak közel egyharmadát kitevő államszocialista lakótelepek a lakásállomány leghomogénebb részét képezik. Ehhez a szocialista lakótelepekre j…

Old housing estates in the housing market of a post-socialist city
Housing estates were constructed by public authorities and private investors long before the era of large prefab housing estates. Their dwellings, like almost all flats, became privatised after 1989 in the postsocialist cities, thus they appeared in the housing market. The aim of this paper is to analyse their market position and to explore how their physical characteristics and residential environment influence the dwelling prices. It also exami…
Morito-ügy, 1920
Morito Tatsuo, a Tokió Császári Egyetem adjunktusa 1920-ban az egyetem közgazdászklubjának folyóiratában cikket publikált Kropotkin társadalomfilozófiájáról címmel, amelyben ismertette a neves anarchista gondolkodó elképzeléseit az igazságos társadalomról, és ezeket megjegyzéseivel látta el. A cikk nagy port vert fel, amelyet az Igazságügyminisztérium a „társadalmi békéről szóló” törvény, illetve a sajtótörvény egyes cikkelyei alapján sértőnek ta…
Robots for surgeons? Surgeons for robots? Exploring the acceptance of robotic surgery in the light of attitudes and trust in robots
Statistical evaluation of the responses (N = 197) showed that positive attitude towards surgical robots showed a high correlation with the willingness to participate in robotic surgery and gave the strongest correlations with the MdRAS utility and negative attitude towards robots subscales. For the assessment of willingness, the MdRAS subscales alone did not provide a strong enough correlation. All factors examined showed a significant correlatio…
Street protest in the first decade of illiberal Hungary
The paper focuses on the anti-governmental protest movements in Budapest in a 10-year long period of the Orbán regime. A quantitative analysis of media reports reveals that the number of street protests remained significant, though with a decreasing intensity in the second half of the period. Empirical evidence on the fragmented and diverse protests suggests that (1) democracy remains of high importance, which is the main issue of dissent in auth…
Planning and Architecture as Determining Influences on the Housing Market
In Hungary, post-war housing estates can be categorised according to the time of their construction. Thanks to the development of construction technologies and urban planning, these so-called generations of housing estates demonstrate different features with regard to their physical layout and socio-economic characteristics. Socio-economic transformation that took place after the change of regime (1989) was widely affected by the physical paramet…
Tanárok vagy kormánytisztviselők? Egyetemi autonómia, kutatói szabadság a Meiji Japánban
Vertical segregation in the apartment blocks of Athens and Budapest
Contemporary urban societies are experiencing growing income inequality and rising socio-spatial differentiation. The implication of space in the reproduction of inequality has been extensively discussed in the literature; however, the social consequences of spatial hierarchies at the microscale are largely neglected. Among these hierarchies, the unequal distribution of socio-economic groups by floors in apartment buildings (i.e. vertical segrega…
The impact of social structure and physical characteristics on housing estate renovation in postsocialist cities
The article aims to analyse the renovation of housing estates in postsocialist cities. Two cities with different share of housing estates and public support system, Vilnius and Budapest are in the focus of the analysis. The renovation of housing estates is a new process in both of them; it started only in the 2000s and its outcome is far from spectacular. The most important and most common type of renovation activities is the insulation of blocks…

A fekete hajók előtt
It is a well-known fact in Japanese historiography that the country was openedup to Western powers by the American Perry expedition in 1853, dubbed inJapan ’the arrival of the black ships’. However, those ships did not comeout of nowhere; there had been various earlier attempts to establish diplomaticand commercial relations with Japan, first by Russia and later by other Westernpowers. These attempts sparked heated debates in Japan regarding the …

Changing geography of the creative economy in Hungary at the beginning of the 21st century
The Hungarian economy has gone through rapid transformation and modernization since the political changes of 1989/90. One of the signs of successful economic restructuring and re-integration to the world economywas the growing role of creative economy. In the present paper we analyse the changing geographical pattern of creative economy in Hungary, based on longitudinal statistical data. Our findings suggest growingcore-periphery relations in the…
Patterns of Socioeconomic Segregation in the Capital Cities of Fast-Track Reforming Postsocialist Countries
Socioeconomic disparities have been rising on both sides of the Atlantic for the last forty years. This study illuminates the relationship among economic inequality, other contextual and institutional factors, and socioeconomic intraurban segregation in Eastern Europe. We draw our empirical evidence from the capital cities of so-called fast-track reforming postsocialist countries: Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The a…
A kreatív gazdaság földrajzi jellemzői Magyarországon
Területi különbségek a pártpreferenciákban Szlovákiában, 1992–2010
A rendszerváltás utáni Szlovákia választási eredményeinek területi jellegzetességeiből jól érzékelhető mind a klasszikus törésvonalak felbukkanása, mind a rendszerváltáshoz kapcsolódó megosztottság.
Beyond Type D personality
Non-Type D patients low on positive affect and Type D patients report lower levels of health status in CHF, compared with non-Type D patients with high positive affect. Future studies need to determine whether lack of positive affect is associated with impaired clinical outcome
