  • Distribution of relic ‘lands’ or strip fields in South Australia

    C R Twidale, Jennifer A Bourne•ARTICLE•Australian Geographer•1978•Cited by: 2•References: 5

Relic ‘lands’ or strip fields are widely preserved in southern South Australia, particularly in the Mid North region and the southern Flinders and Mt Lofty ranges. They have also been identified on Yorke and southern Eyre peninsulas, Kangaroo Island, the Olary upland, and the western Murray Plains. Thus, despite their fragile nature and the many agencies that have operated to destroy them, many have survived in the South Australian landscape. The…

  • Kappakoola dunes — aeolian landforms induced by man

    Dianne Smith, Dianne M Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Geographer•1975•References: 1

These masses of sand stand out from the northwest‐southeast trending longitudinal dunes of the regional pattern because they are devoid of vegetation and in detail change in morphology from day to day according to the wind direction. The dunes are demonstrably of recent origin and are developed as a result of the deflation of the A‐horizon of a soil formed on the near…
