Psychological Correlates of Long-Term Imprisonment
A Semantic Differential test was administered to 175 men serving determinate sentences of 10 years and above or indeterminate sentences in prisons through out England in order to assess attitudes to concepts selected either because of their relevance to the experience of imprisonment or because of their general importance. Psychological Correlates of Long-Term Imprisonment
have reported differences on both cognitive and personality variables between groups of long-term prisoners who have served varying lengths of time in prison. The evidence suggested that the differences noted were due to the effects of imprisonment per se rather than to selection procedures for parole.
