  • The acceptability of three vaccine injections given to infants during a single clinic visit in South Africa

Open Access•Hanani Tabana, Lilian Dudley et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

We found high acceptance by caregivers and vaccinators of three injections. Caregivers' poor understanding of reasons for three injections resulted from limited information sharing by vaccinators for caregivers. Acceptability of three injections may be improved through enhanced vaccinator-caregiver communication, and improved management of infants' pain. Vaccinator training should include evidence-informed ways of communicating with caregivers an…

The Glenfinnan Monument, now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland, is one of the principal symbols of Highland Jacobite culture.Set at the head of Loch Shiel, it marks the place at or near which the Jacobite standard was raised in 1745 to signal the start of the uprising led by Prince Charles Edward Stuart.Despite its fame as a Jacobite symbol, other aspects of the Monument have been overlooked, including the circumstances of its patron…

  • St Rule's Church, St Andrews, and early stone-built churches in Scotland

NEIL CAMERON•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Society of…•1995

An article challenging the mid--late twelfth-century date for St Rule's, presenting a new interpretation of the structure. Also considered are other church buildings in eastern--central Scotland which, it is argued, provide evidence of a well-established tradition of church construction in stone before the twelfth century

  • Excavations at Rattray, Aberdeenshire. A Scottish Deserted Burgh

    Hilary Murray, H K Murray et al.•ARTICLE•Medieval Archaeology•1993•Cited by: 1•References: 18

DOCUMENTARY sources identify the deserted settlement of Rattray, Aberdeenshire, as a royal burgh from the mid 16th century and as a probable burgh of barony from the 13th century. Excavation has revealed a more complex settlement history with a late 12th- or early 13th-century defensive motte having been replaced by a more manorial establishment which encouraged the development of an adjacent settlement between the 13th and 15th centuries. Domest…

  • The Painted Romanesque Voussoir in Glasgow Cathedral

NEIL CAMERON, Neil Manson Cameron•ARTICLE•Journal of the British…•1986

The painted voussoir in Glasgow Cathedral is possibly the only fragment of Romanesque wall painting to survive in Scotland. The palmette motif on its outer face is difficult to parallel in wall painting, but it can be compared with palmettes in other media, particularly manuscripts. These comparisons suggest that it is likely to be a fragment from the cathedral church at Glasgow dedicated in 1136
