Psychopathic Deviation Among Female Suburban Adolescents
The female population of a suburban high school in a Northeastern metropolitan region (n = 837) was administered the MMPI‐168 and additional surveys in order to explore the relationships between scale 4 (Psychopathic Deviate) and other variables, using multivariate techniques. Results of three multiple discriminant analyses between high and normal scorers on scale 4 suggest that high scorers are typified by a variety of delinquent experiences, lo…
Perceived Structure of Aggressive and Assertive Behaviors
Teachers rated the social behavior, aggressive and otherwise, of high school students according to a 25-item adjective checklist. Principal components analysis of the rating scales yielded five factors: social boldness, positive regard, weakness of will, openness, and social facility. Assertiveness and aggressiveness loaded on the social boldness factor, as did such behavioral descriptors as bold, outspoken, nasty, unfair, and belligerent. Assert…
Factor Structure of the MMPI-168 with and without Regression Weights
The MMPI-168 was administered to 786 adolescent males and 883 adolescent females to determine whether the scale factor structure was stable across sex and before and after using regression weights to predict full scale scores. For each analysis three factors accounting for 65 to 69% of the variance emerged, though in varying order: psychoticism and acting out, depression (or neuroticism), and defensiveness. Major response clusters on the MMPI-168…
