The relationship between cryptomarket drug purchase, social networks and adverse drug events
People who reported purchasing drugs from cryptomarkets more commonly reported having no drug-using network, and cryptomarket purchase was associated with reported adverse events. Our results support the notion that cryptomarket use increases drug-related harm, but further disentanglement of multiple complex mechanisms is needed in future research

Associations between mental illness and non-medical use of prescription opioids among a sample of people who use drugs in Australia and New Zealand
Non-medical use of prescription opioids (NUPO) is an increasing public health concern in Australia and New Zealand. In response to a lack of research on NUPO in this setting, we investigated the associations between NUPO, mental illnesses, and other substance use, using data from the 2019 Global Drug Survey (GDS). Strategies to reduce NUPO-related harm were also discussed. Socio-demographic characteristics, mental illnesses, NUPO, and other subst…

This paper reviews literature on psychedelic science, contemplative practices, and Indigenous and other traditional knowledge syste…
Better Bang for the Buck? Generalizing Trust in Online Drug Markets
Past research into illicit online markets suggests that trust is produced by governance, reputation systems and the formation of social ties. In this paper, we draw on accounts of abstract and institutional trust, examining whether using a market is associated with general positive beliefs about product quality. Using data from the 2018 Global Drug Survey (n = 25,471) we utilize propensity score matching and multilevel linear regression to examin…

Comparing Transgender and Cisgender Experiences of Being Taken Advantage of Sexually While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Other Drugs
