  • Genomic and phenotypic insights into the first imported monkeypox virus clade Ia isolate in China, 2025

Open Access•Chunhong Yin, Yan Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

The 2022 multi-country outbreak of monkeypox virus (MPXV) sparked global health concerns, as cases emerged increasingly outside traditionally endemic regions. This outbreak, spanning 2022–2023, was primarily driven by the clade IIb strain. Subsequently, a surge of MPXV cases caused by clades Ia and Ib in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African countries has garnered heightened attention. Notably, clade Ib has recently been imported…

Open Access•Qing Duan, Yao Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

    Open Access•Walid Ben‐Amar, Walid Ben-Amar et al.•ARTICLE•Voluntas Revista Internacional de…•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 19

We examine how governments use accounting information, specifically administrative ratios, in their decisions regarding the funding of nonprofit organizations (NPOs). This study examines the effects of professionalization on the cost efficiency of fundraising organizations in a unique research context, Chinese charitable foundations. Two important professionalization measures, professionalized human resource management and accounting practices, are adopted. Using data from audited annual reports from 2005 to 2009, we find that professionalization in general enables foundations to increase their fundraising cos…

  • Family business development in mainland China from 1872 to 1949

Cheryl Susan Mcwatters, Qiu Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Business History•2016•Cited by: 2•References: 64

This study reviews family business in mainland China from 1872 to 1949 and provides evidence of its early development and its origins in 1872 when the first modern manufacturing firm was founded. We analyse the social, economic, and political environment in which family firms in mainland China were embedded to improve our understanding of how this unique organisational form was established and developed. Our analyses cover the late Qing Dynasty a…

  • Research the American Way

Sandy Q Qu, Sandy Qu et al.•ARTICLE•European Accounting Review•2009

This paper examines authorship distribution in a premiere Canadian-based research journal, Contemporary Accounting Research (CAR). It provides empirical evidence of a strong US elite dominance in the research agenda of a non-US research community. This is illustrated through a consistently higher proportion of authorship representation and participation of US elites (measured by doctoral origins) in CAR and its associated Conference. We also foun…
