Cannibalism
A dataset of 73 variables was complied on 345 serial killers, 31 of whom who engaged in cannibalism. A distinction was made between those who engaged only in cannibalism, those who engaged in necrophilia, and those who engaged in both or neither. Those who engaged in both cannibalism and necrophilia were the most psychiatrically disturbed and deviant, but those who engaged in only cannibalism were more disturbed and deviant in their actions than …
A Study of African American Serial Killers
A comparison of 57 African American serial killers since 1900 with 205 Euro-American serial killers on 83 variables revealed that African American serial killers killed fewer victims, committed fewer sexually deviant and violent acts in their crimes (such as less often torturing victims or committing bizarre sexual acts such as necrophilia), and seemed more normal in childhood

War of the Wires: A Curious Chapter in Street Railway History
The street railway industry searched for a reliable and efficient motor to replace the horse for decades. By 1890 electricity was adopted for this purpose by transit operators. The new technology was in fact adopted with enthusiasm and most of the horse cars were gone by 1900. The universal plan included a single overhead wire charged with 600-volt DC current. The ground return was aided by bonded rail joints to complete the circuit. Only one maj…

The California State Railroad Museum: A Louvre for Locomotives
Sacramento. There is a feeling of elegance and careful design throughout the facility, erected by the state at a cost of approximately $22 million. There is none of the weed-grown dilapidation normally associated with museums operated by railroad enthusiasts. At long last one has a feeling that America is beginning to catch up with Western Europe: We now have a railway museum that can serve as a model for what can and should be done elsewhere in …
