    Twenty-two male volunteers in Jerusalem were subjected to a battery of psychological tests at the height of the Iraqi Scud missile attacks on Israeli cities during the 1991 Persian Gulf War and again after the cessation of hostilities.     In the word-association paradigm a response given by a subject to two or more different stimuli was defined as an "all-purpose response" (APR) on the individual level.   • Self-Produced Context Effect in Word Association

    Analysis of context effects upon reproduction behavior in a word-association task was made. The chances of a successful reproduction were positively affected by success with the preceding word. Success with two preceding words in a row was more influential. This finding was interpreted as a context effect.   • Incubation of Threat’ in a Situation of Conflicting Expectations

    64 students awaiting results of University examinations estimated their grades and stated their apprehensions concerning their performance. The longer the duration of anticipation, the more “pessimistic” the expectations became. This finding was related to the phenomenon of “incubation of threat.”
