Reliability and Practice Effects of Wisc-R Iq Estimates in a Normal Population
WISC-R test-retest data with a six-month interval were obtained for 45 normal 10-year-old children ranging in age from 7.8 to 15.0 years. Verbal IQ estimates were stable (one IQ point increase), but significant practice effects were obtained on Performance and Full Scale IQ estimates (8 and 5 IQ point increases, respectively). Stability coefficients of .95, .89 and .95 for the Verbal, Performance and Full Scales, respectively, were as high as or …
Social Class and Test Performance
Comparability of IQs yielded by the Peabody and the revised Wechsler scale, the WISC-R, is important to interpret IQ estimates obtained from these two scales. In the present study, 40 normal 10-yr.-old children (20 male and 20 female, half of whom were from high and half from low socioeconomic status) were compared for performance on the Peabody, the WISC and the WISC-R. IQs obtained on Forms A and B of the Peabody correlate highly and, thus, the…

Internal-External Control and Assertiveness of Subjects High and Low in Social Desirability
The present study investigated the relationship between locus of control and assertiveness in a 2 × 2 factorial design ( N = 28 per group) employing students both high and low in social desirability as subjects ( N = 112). It was predicted that internals would be more assertive than externals but that this relationship would hold only for subjects scoring low in social desirability. Results indicate that internals do describe themselves as more a…
