The origins of creativity
Starting from the perspective of Blake's notion “Energy is eternal delight,” this study is a theoretical speculation of the origin of artistic creativity which expands Freudian theory in a new direction. Since Freud admitted that “the nature of artistic achievement is inaccessible to us psychoanalytically,” an alternative theory of the aesthetic appreciation of art and nature as well as artistic creation is presented drawing on concepts from Reic…

Psychology of the Scientist
Radically new ideas typically meet with irrational opposition in all fields of thought, including science. As a result, progress is slowed down and some ideas need to be rediscovered before they become widely accepted. Two examples are cited from the recent psychological literature: an extensive review of the role of muscle tension in personality theory failed to acknowledge Wilhelm Reich's major contributions; and a study of the personality of c…
Sexual Appetite and Sexual Drive

It is maintained that sexuality is both a drive and an appetite and that Freud's theory is more complete than Hardy's because it deals with both of these aspects. Specific comparisons are drawn in relation to the periodicity of women's desire, the pleasure of genital stimulation, and the “unpleasure” in arousal short of orgasm. Finall…
Cognitive Dissonance and Self-Confidence Level
Hall and Closson studied psychoanalytic judgments, which produced a situation roughly similar to one described by Myers: in both studies, contrary results would be predicted by reinforcement and cognitive dissonance views. Myers found that most psychologists preferred the reinforcement prediction, which was validated by the results. We found that most psychologists preferred the reinforcement prediction for the Hall and Closson data as well but r…
