Evaluation of Response Consistency on the MMPI
The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of intelligence and psychiatric status on consistency of response on the MMPI for 160 psychiatric inpatients. F Scale scores and response consistency (TR) scores were examined. Random response patterns tended to be more prevalent in those protocols with F Scale elevations and in those groups who were either psychotic or of low intelligence. Data suggest the TR index of response consistenc…
Performance of Psychiatric Inpatients on Three Standard Tests of Intelligence
The Quick Test, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale were administered to 40 psychiatric inpatients. High correlations and minimal mean differences obtain among measures
Comparison of the Wais and Leiter International Performance Scale in a Large Urban Community Mental Health Setting
The present study sought to investigate the efficacy of the Leiter in a sample of 35 culturally disadvantaged psychiatric patients. Correlations between Leiter and Wechsler Scales ranged from .62 to .71. Mean Leiter IQs were 12.77 points lower than WAIS Full Scale IQs. Implications of this difference are discussed
Performance of Hospitalized Schizophrenics on Picture Vocabulary (Qt) and Verbal Vocabulary (Wais) Measures
It was hypothesized that schizophrenic Ss performed relatively better on a vocabulary task (Wechsler) demanding verbally expressed definitions than on a picture vocabulary measure (Quick Test). Results with 29 inpatient Ss supported this hypothesis. Implications of these results are discussed
A revised scale for the measurement of ecological attitudes and knowledge
The Quick Test as a Measure of General Intelligence in an Urban Community Psychiatric Hospital
Additional data are provided concerning the use of the Quick Test as a measure of general intelligence. In addition to providing local normative data, an attempt is made to examine accuracy of estimation of IQ by the QT at different levels of inrelligence. Results for a sample of 63 adult psychiatric inpauenrs indicate high correlation and minimal mean differences when QT and WAIS IQs are compared. Correlations are also presented comparing all QT…
Ecology: Let's hear from the people: An objective scale for the measurement of ecological attitudes and knowledge
Re-Evaluation of the Use of the Quick Test with a Sample of Institutionalized Mentally Retarded Subjects
The present study sought to evaluate the usefulness of the Quick Test (QT) as a measure of intelligence in mentally retarded persons. Both the QT and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) were administered to 109 institutionalized retarded Ss, ranging in age from 10 to 57 yr. in the order Form B, A (PPVT), QT 1, 2, 3. An order of test effects was clear. The results suggested that, although the QT is effective with persons in the normal range…
