  • Developmental Individual Variability of Brain Functional Networks During Childhood and Adolescence

    Open Access•Xiaodan Chen, X Y Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Pacific Rim Psychology•2026

Childhood and adolescence are critical periods for the maturation of functional brain networks, supporting cognitive and behavioral development. While normative developmental trajectories of functional networks have been well documented, patterns of individual variability and their developmental changes remain to be clarified. Using cross-sectional resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging datasets from 257 children (aged 6–12 years) an…

  • Developmental differences in generalizable neural representations driven by multiple emotional and cognitive tasks

Lei Hao, Tianwei Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2025

  • Neural specialization with generalizable representations underlies children’s cognitive development of attention

Lei Hao, Hao Lei et al.•ARTICLE•American Psychologist•2024

From childhood to adulthood, the human brain develops highly specialized yet interacting neural modules that give rise to nuanced attention and other cognitive functions. Each module can specialize over development to support specific functions, yet also coexist in multiple neurobiological modes to support distinct processes. Advances in cognitive neuroscience have conceptualized human attention as a set of cognitive processes anchored in highly …

  • Health problems faced by left-behind children in low/middle-income countries

Open Access•Zhenggang Zhu, Yanpei Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2023

  • Longitudinal predictions between executive function and general and specific psychiatric problems in school-age children

Gai Zhao, Haibo Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2023•Cited by: 1

This study examined the longitudinal associations of various executive function components with subsequent psychiatric problems in Chinese school-age children. Data from 1,639 children (44.36% girls) ages 6-13 years were drawn from the Children School Functions and Brain Development project. Executive function components were assessed by the cancellation test, the Corsi test, and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test. Psychiatric problems were determin…

  • Growth mindset and academic achievement in Chinese adolescents

Open Access•Daoyang Wang, Fangqi Yuan et al.•ARTICLE•Current Psychology•2022

  • Disrupted Resting Frontal–Parietal Attention Network Topology Is Associated With a Clinical Measure in Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Open Access•Yanpei Wang, Fuxiang Tao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Purpose: Although alterations in resting-state functional connectivity between brain regions have been reported in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the spatial organization of these changes remains largely unknown. Here, we studied frontal-parietal attention network topology in children with ADHD, and related topology to a clinical measure of disease progression. Methods: Resting-state fMRI scans were obtained from N…
