Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of Community Exercise Experiences after Severe Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health concern due to its growing incidence and resulting long-term or lifelong impairments. Exercise is a non-stigmatising approach proposed to alleviate the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional consequences after TBI. We used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore the exercise experiences of seven individuals living with a severe TBI, 5–31 years after rehabilitation. We eng…

Leisure education may help children to explore personal meanings of leisure, identify leisure preferences and better understand the role of leisure in their lives. Leisure scholars have advocated for the right to leisure education for children and research has produced implementation strategies, pedagogical approaches, and general principles to develop leisure education programmes for children. A palynological perspective on the impacts of European contact
The Spanish conquest of the Cuchumatanes Highlands (1524–1541 ce ) led to dramatic land use changes adhering to colonial practices and values, which included the rearing of livestock, agriculture, timber extraction, mining, and the relocation of indigenous populations to new settlements. These changes are often recorded in historical accounts and official records; however, these are sparse, incomplete, and have been lost over the passage of time.…
The Apparent Resilience of the Dry Tropical Forests of the Nicaraguan Region of the Central American Dry Corridor to Variations in Climate Over the Last C. 1200 Years
The Central American Dry Corridor (CADC) is the most densely populated area of the Central American Isthmus and is subject to the greatest variability in precipitation between seasons. The vegetation of this region is composed of Dry Tropical Forests (DTF), which are suggested to be highly susceptible to variations in climate and anthropogenic development. This study examines the vulnerability of past DTF surrounding the Asese peninsula, Nicaragu…
Involvement in Physical Activity
A total of 1,096 adolescents participated in 123 focus groups regarding the perceived outcomes of their involvement in sports and physical activity (PA). The groups, segmented by grade level, sex, and school types, were conducted in both public and private high schools in Montreal, Quebec. We sought to understand, through the participants’ own words, their perception of the outcome matrix of involvement in sports and PA. Focus group questions emp…
Scrapbook interviewing and children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
Interviewing children about their physical activity (PA) experiences can be a challenging research undertaking. A new visual research method in qualitative research, scrapbook interviewing, was created to explore the PA experiences of children. Six children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder shared their PA stories in semi-structured interviews through the use of a PA scrapbook. A comparison of a consecutive and concurrent scrapbook in…
