Concurrent Plasma Epinephrine, Norepinephrine and 17-Hydroxycorticosteroid Levels During Conditioned Emotional Disturbances in Monkeys
In studies involving biochemical measurement of plasma 17-OH-CS, norepinephrine, and epinephrine levels during conditioned emotional disturbances in monkeys, elevations in 17-OH-CS and norepinephrine levels were observed in a variety of experimental situations. The regulation of epinephrine secretion, however, appeared to have a more selective basis. In relatively stereotyped, predictable situations such as avoidance and CER, patterns of 17-OH-CS…

Some Experimental Observations on Gastro intestinal Lesions in Behaviorally Conditioned Monkeys
Eleven of 19 monkeys used in chronic psychological-conditioning experiments developed gastrointestinal disease. Although the program for each animal was different, for the most part experiments were directed toward a study of emotional behavior. Among the lesions found were gastric hemorrhage and erosion, duodenal ulceration, enteric intussusception, and chronic colitis. In a controlled study of a single behavioral procedure (avoidance behavior),…
